The 32nd Jewish Culture Festival Starts Tomorrow: A Cultural Celebration in Krakow
A Five-Day Celebration
The 32nd edition of the Jewish Culture Festival, a celebration filled with lectures, workshops, concerts, film screenings, and a unique atmosphere, will run from June 28 to July 2. This year, the Jewish Woodstock, or the outdoor concerts of Shalom on Szeroka, will also return to Kazimierz. As every year, the Krakow festival will showcase the richness and diversity of Jewish culture from around the world.
About the Festival
What started as a small event in the Krakow cinema Mikro has grown into the world's largest Jewish Culture Festival, showcasing not only the achievements of contemporary Jewish culture in Israel, Poland, and the entire Diaspora, but also serving as the largest ambassador of Israeli culture in the world.
A Significant Anniversary
This year also marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the state of Israel – a thematic thread that will be prominently present at the festival. Ambassadors from Israel including Yacov Livne, Yossi Klein-Halevi, Matti Friedman, and Konstanty Gebert will not only talk about the history but also about the contemporary life in Israel.
A Focus on Literature
A constant point of the festival's program are literary meetings, which this year will revolve around events involving Ishbel Szatrawska, Jacek Tacik, Zuzanna Hertzberg, and Patrycja Dołowy.
Culinary Workshops
The Krakow festival also brings back culinary workshops led by Bartek Kieżun (Krakowski Makaroniarz). As always, the joint cooking will end with a feast for all workshop participants.
Signature Event
The flagship event of the Jewish Culture Festival is the concert Shalom on Szeroka, which attracts tens of thousands of participants every year. This year, on July 1 at 6:00 pm, Kazimierz will once again resound with the rhythms of Jewish music.
Where Will the Festival Take Place?
The festival center will be a tent standing at the intersection of Józefa and Wąska streets. The organizers inform that the events of the 32nd FKŻ taking place in the FKŻ Tent and films in the Festival Cinema are free of charge, just like all online broadcasts.
Get ready for five days full of culture, music, and community that will once again transform Krakow into the heart of Jewish culture.
