Dunajec River rafting – a scenic journey through mountain nature
The Dunajec River rafting is one of the most iconic and relaxing outdoor experiences in southern Poland. Taking place in the heart of the Pieniny Mountains, this traditional journey follows a river that gently winds between limestone cliffs, forests and open mountain views.
During the rafting experience, you will take part in a traditional wooden raft journey operated by licensed local raftsmen, who steer the rafts according to centuries-old tradition. Despite the mountain setting, the river current is calm, making the rafting smooth, unhurried and focused on sightseeing rather than physical effort.
The rafting section lasts approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes and covers a route of about 18 kilometers, offering plenty of time to admire the landscape and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the national park area.
Time after rafting – Szczawnica or Niedzica
After completing the rafting journey, the day continues at a relaxed pace. By default, time is spent in Szczawnica, a charming spa town where you can take a walk, enjoy the mountain surroundings or taste traditional regional cuisine.
Alternatively, if arranged in advance, the itinerary may include a visit to Niedzica, with its dam and the shores of Czorsztyńskie Lake, offering views of the lake, surrounding mountains and the historic castle ruins overlooking the water.
Private tour from Krakow
This experience is offered as a private tour from Krakow, with individual transport and a dedicated driver who speaks Polish and English. The private format allows for a comfortable pace, flexibility during the day and a calm experience focused on nature and scenery.
The Dunajec River rafting tour is an excellent choice for travelers looking to escape the city, spend time outdoors and experience one of Poland’s most beautiful river landscapes in a relaxed and authentic way.
