"The Image of the Golden Age" at the Royal Castle on Wawel Hill
A Multifaceted Tale of Art and Culture Flourishing
The Royal Castle on Wawel Hill cordially invites you to the weekend opening of the exhibition "The Image of the Golden Age." It is a multifaceted tale of the flourishing of art and visual culture under the scepter of the last Jagiellons. The exhibition features nearly 450 exhibits from around the world, displayed on all floors of the royal residence.
Promotional Ticket Prices on Friday and Saturday
On Friday and Saturday, from 5:10 PM to 10:00 PM, visitors will have the opportunity to view the exhibition at promotional prices: 20 PLN (regular ticket) and 10 PLN (discounted ticket).
Unique Mapping on the Arcaded Courtyard
In addition, on September 15th and 16th, a unique mapping related to the Renaissance court of the Jagiellons will be presented on the arcaded courtyard. This spectacle can be admired from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
Blossoming of Culture and Art in the Jagiellonian Era
In the 16th century, Poland was one of the largest states in Europe, and the reign of the Jagiellons marked the Golden Age. It was a period of significant development in science, culture, and art. Cities were thriving, trade was expanding rapidly, and this was accompanied by advancements in science and culture. The Golden Age also witnessed the Reformation and the promotion of the Polish language. The exhibition "The Image of the Golden Age" will highlight the significance and power of imagery in the broad culture of the Jagiellonian era.
Monumental Exhibition
"The Image of the Golden Age" is a monumental exhibition that will occupy twenty rooms in the Renaissance royal palace on Wawel Hill. This provides a unique opportunity to present the gathered exhibits in their historical context.
Extraordinary Works of Art
The exhibition will feature outstanding Renaissance works, including carved semi-precious stone miniature portraits of Sigismund Augustus, Queen Bona, and Barbara Radziwiłłówna. It will also showcase Polish premieres, such as a embossed leather shield with the portrait of Sigismund Augustus.
400 Exhibits from Around the World
Over 400 exhibits have been brought in from various parts of Poland and the world. The exhibition not only includes well-known and important works of art but also many lesser-known or previously unseen artifacts in Poland.
