A long-standing tradition in the heart of Kraków
The Easter Market on the Main Square has a long-standing tradition and every year attracts large numbers of both locals and visitors from Poland and abroad. The 2026 edition will run from 26 March to 6 April, once again filling the central square with stalls, colours and seasonal atmosphere.
Around 100 market stalls will be located near the Town Hall Tower, featuring vendors from the region, across Poland and from abroad, including Lithuania, Ukraine, Slovakia and Hungary.
The offer focuses on traditional and handmade products such as Easter decorations (pisanki, palms, festive ornaments), crafts and artisan goods, jewellery, textiles, ceramics, wooden items and souvenirs. Alongside this, visitors will find numerous food stands serving Polish specialities - including the well-known Kraków maczanka - as well as baked goods, sweets and regional products from different countries.
The market also includes interactive elements, such as blacksmith demonstrations in a traditional forge and hands-on craft workshops, which give visitors a closer look at local traditions.
Programme highlights - key dates to plan your visit
28 March (Saturday) - official opening
The main opening ceremony takes place at 12:00, accompanied by performances from folk groups such as “Krakowiacy” and “Małe Słowianki”. Throughout the day, visitors can also take part in Easter egg decorating workshops.
29 March (Sunday) - Palm Sunday celebrations
This is one of the most atmospheric days of the market. A traditional palm procession sets off from the Barbican, followed by the blessing of palms near St. Adalbert’s Church. The programme also includes a competition for the most beautiful Easter palm and performances by regional ensembles.
30 March - 3 April - workshops and regional presentations
During the week, the focus shifts to workshops and local culture, including wicker decoration classes, string art workshops and basket weaving demonstrations.
4 April (Saturday) - Easter traditions in practice
Visitors can experience the blessing of Easter baskets, presentations of the traditional Easter table and performances of “Pucheroki” - a unique local custom.
6 April - closing day
The market concludes with the traditional ritual “Siuda Baba”, one of the most distinctive folk traditions in the Kraków region.
What makes the Kraków Easter Market worth visiting
Compared to the Christmas market, the Easter edition is slightly calmer but more focused on authentic traditions and regional culture. It is one of the best opportunities to experience Polish Easter customs in a compact, accessible form - right in the centre of Kraków.
If you want to see how the market looked in previous years, you can check photos from earlier editions on the organiser’s website.
