From Saturday, February 26, 2022 to Sunday, September 4, 2022, the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology is hosting the exhibition Me, the Cat. Cats in the art of Japan and the West. It is the first exhibition in Poland and Europe to present this fascinating topic. It introduces the phenomenon of the domestic cat, and also reminds of its wild relatives.
The starting point are masterful ukiyo-e woodcuts from the collection of Feliks "Manggha" Jasieński depicting "cat matters" and contemporary Japanese gadgets, signs of pop culture, incl. maneki neko.
At the exhibition, we will meet both well-known cat heroes, including Puss in Boots or Behemoth from Master and Margarita, but also disturbing visions of cats created by contemporary Polish artists.
The exhibition Cats in the art of Japan and the West is a treat for fans of these fluffy pets.
