"Pour me more wine!" this slogan is the leitmotif of the New Year's concerts that will take place at the Krakow Opera on Lubicz Street
The famous words from Agnieszka Osiecka's poem refer not only to the New Year's Eve atmosphere that the artists hope to create on stage, but also to the tradition of composers incorporating songs-toasts into opera works - to mention the famous "Libiamo ne". "Lieti calici" from La Traviata by G. Verdi or "Viva il vino spumeggiante" from the peasant knighthood of R. Leoncavalli.
For someone wine - like a love elixir - will put you in a romantic mood and encourage ecstasy ("Hoffmann's Fables", "Czech Republic"), and in others it will arouse excitement ("Love drink", "Princess Czardasza"). Still others will dance when they are carried away by the rhythm of polka, cancan or flamenco ("Orpheus in Hell", "Carmen"). Some people even feel dizzy … One thing is certain - with the Krakow Opera no one will fall asleep on New Year's Eve ("Turandot").
We should welcome the New Year with a bang thats why up to six soloists will perform: Monika Korybalska, Paula Maciołek, Iwona Socha, Jarosław Bielecki, Tomasz Kuk and Michał Kutnik; they will be accompanied by the Orchestra, Choir and Ballet conducted by Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski
