Krakow Honeyfest: A Celebration of Honey and Bees at Wolnica Square
As autumn leaves start to color and the sun shines more gently over the Krakow sky, locals and tourists gather at Wolnica Square to honor tradition and taste the golden nectar. From September 8–10, Wolnica Square will become the beekeeping hub, thanks to the Krakow Honeyfest - an event that has been cherished by the people of Krakow for nearly three decades.
Organized by the Association of Krakow Beekeepers, Honeyfest is not just an opportunity to buy honey but also a meeting point with the tradition and culture of beekeeping. It's primarily an educational event aimed at raising awareness about the importance of bees in our ecosystem.
For many, the main attraction is the opportunity to purchase natural bee products. Local beekeepers offer a wide range of products - from traditional honey, through pollen, to propolis. It's a unique chance to try different types of honey and uncover the secrets behind its production.
But Krakow's Honeyfest is not just about honey. The organizers have prepared a rich program full of attractions. Concerts, workshops, lectures – to name just a few. Of special note are the initiation of young beekeepers and the blood donation drive set for September 9 at the Ethnographic Museum.
Bee Parade
One of the most anticipated items on the agenda is the Bee Parade. On Saturday, locals and tourists can marvel at the colorful procession of participants dressed as bees and other related characters. Participants' creativity knows no bounds, resulting in incredible and imaginative costumes year after year. The parade will start from the Adam Mickiewicz monument at 12:00 PM and journey down the Royal Route towards Wolnica Square.
