Polish Carpathian Mountains

The Małopolskie Voivodeship in Poland is a place that amazes with its beautiful Carpathian Mountains. These majestic mountains are located in central Europe, between the Alps to the west and the Caucasus to the east, and are the highest mountain range between these two mountain ranges. Just a few kilometers from Krakow, you can find yourself on their hills and enjoy beautiful views.

Beskidy is a forested mountain range in Małopolska, which includes the Makowski, Wyspowy, Sądecki, Żywiecki, and Gorce mountains. The gentle slopes and grassy ridges are perfect for hiking, cycling, and sometimes even horse riding. The highest peak in this part of the Carpathians is Babia Góra, located on the Polish-Slovak border, which rises to a height of 1725 m above sea level.

Pieniny is a particularly picturesque tourist area, shared with Slovakia. Three Crowns (982 m above sea level) are a symbol of Pieniny and an unparalleled viewpoint. The southern slopes are surrounded by the fast-flowing Dunajec River, and its scenic gorge is considered one of the most beautiful in the world.

The Tatra Mountains are the crown of the Polish Carpathians, and their highest peak, Rysy (2499 m above sea level), is also the highest peak in Poland. This is a place where the richness of natural landscapes, diverse glacial relief, and rare species of plants and animals make for an extraordinary attraction.

Mountains are not only beautiful views and unforgettable landscapes, but also cultural heritage. In the Carpathians, there are many monuments, especially wooden architecture, including churches and Orthodox churches inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

In winter, you can take advantage of numerous ski slopes offering well-maintained trails of varying difficulty. Charming restaurants await tourists in the Carpathian valleys, and in spa towns, there are sources of medicinal mineral and thermal waters. The thermal pools in Podhale provide relaxation and fun in pro-health conditions. The main centers of summer and winter tourism are Zakopane, Rabka-Zdrój, Krynica-Zdrój, Szczawnica, and Krościenko.
