National Museum in Krakow, located in a monumental main building, is a place that has evolved over the years to become a symbol of culture and art, accessible to everyone regardless of physical circumstances. It serves as the hub of not only management and administration, but also various specialized departments and workshops that contribute to its unique character.
The main building of the museum houses permanent galleries such as XX + XXI. Gallery of Polish Art and Gallery of Artistic Crafts, where you can admire the diversity and richness of Polish artistic creations. Temporary exhibitions, which enjoy great public interest, are also regularly organized here.
National Museum in Krakow is a place where you can trace the course of art history, from exhibitions dedicated to great figures like Jan Matejko, Józef Mehoffer, and Stanisław Wyspiański, to retrospectives of contemporary artists and exhibitions honoring generous donors. It is a place that appreciates both significant contributions and small gestures in the service of art.
However, National Museum in Krakow is not just about art collections. It is also a venue for meetings, lectures, conferences, and symposiums. The audiovisual hall, known as "U Samurajów," offers diverse cultural experiences, from multimedia projections and concerts to author evenings. All of this makes the museum a vibrant center of life.
For the youngest visitors, there are guides for children from the series "Historie i sztuczki, czyli wprawki z historii sztuki" (Stories and Tricks, or Art History Warm-ups). They serve as excellent tools for learning and fun, helping children understand and appreciate art. The National Museum library is a treasury of knowledge about art and museology, constantly enriched with new titles.
To commemorate your visit, be sure to visit the shop in the lobby, offering art publications, postcards, reproductions of artworks, and souvenirs. National Museum in Krakow is a place that connects the past, present, and future, becoming a space for anyone who loves art.
