Krakow Night of Museums 2026 - art and history after dark

Krakow is once again preparing for one of the city’s most anticipated cultural events of the year. The 2026 Night of Museums will take place on May 15, transforming the city into a huge space filled with late-night museum visits, concerts, workshops, and special events available only for one evening.

The official programme confirms the participation of dozens of museums, galleries, and cultural institutions across Krakow. This year’s edition focuses on discovering art and history after dark, with many venues preparing unique attractions not available during regular opening hours.

You can follow the official programme on the Krakowskie Noce website and in the updates published by the National Museum in Krakow.

Which museums and attractions are worth visiting?

The programme includes both Krakow’s most famous museums and some lesser-known locations. The biggest crowds usually gather at Rynek Underground Museum, MOCAK, Wawel Royal Castle, Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory, Manggha Museum, the Archaeological Museum, the Home Army Museum, Cricoteka, and the Polish Aviation Museum.

Wawel Royal Castle has announced evening access to selected exhibitions, including the Royal Gardens, Private Royal Apartments, Armoury, and underground areas of the castle. The Manggha Museum is also preparing a special programme with exhibitions and an interactive evening game called “Escape from the Museum”.

The Museum of Krakow plans additional guided tours connected with the history of wartime Krakow, including events at the Eagle Pharmacy and Thesaurus Cracoviensis.

Plan your evening in advance

Every year, Krakow’s Night of Museums attracts thousands of visitors and tourists. In practice, this means long queues at the most popular museums from the very beginning of the event.

Many institutions also introduce entry limits, mandatory reservations for guided tours, separate tickets for selected events, and limited workshop capacity. Because of this, it is usually better to choose 2-4 locations instead of trying to visit everything in one night.

What else to do in Krakow at night?

If you still want to experience Krakow’s evening atmosphere after visiting the museums, a walk through Kazimierz or one of the city’s more unusual night attractions can be a great idea. One interesting option is Creepy Cracow - an evening tour filled with legends, dark stories, and hidden corners of the city.

Spring evenings are also perfect for relaxing on the river. If the weather is good, a Vistula River sightseeing cruise can be a great addition to your Krakow itinerary, especially around sunset.

If you are planning a longer stay in the city, it is also worth checking this guide about what to do in Krakow during spring, with more ideas for seasonal attractions, walks, and events in March, April, and May.

Krakow’s Night of Museums remains one of those events that shows the city from a completely different perspective - quieter, more atmospheric, and full of history waiting to be discovered after dark.
